Biography

Jeff Harbeson is a graduate of the University of Maryland, and was commissioned through the Navy Officer Candidate School in Newport, RI. He served as a Surface Warfare Officer in the United States Navy for 32 years. During his Navy career, he served in a variety of assignments both at sea and ashore; with four overseas tours and numerous deployments around the world. He commanded USS John S. McCain (DDG 56), forward deployed to Yokosuka, Japan, and Destroyer Squadron 50, forward deployed to Bahrain. He also served as commander, Joint Task Force Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. His last assignment was on the Joint Chiefs of Staff in Washington, DC where he was responsible for strategy and policy for Europe, NATO, and Russia. He has a Master of Arts degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the Naval War College. Jeff retired from the Navy in January 2014 and is an independent consultant.
